What are you searching for?

That is the question of many today. Many are searching for something, and many do not know what they are searching for. There have been many studies conducted and books written on what people really look for in a church. For a few short moments I want to share with you what God says should be found in His house. The foundation of any church is the Bible, and Tabernacle Baptist Church was founded as and always will be a Bible-believing church. There are a lot of churches that maybe say they believe the Bible, but they do not preach the whole counsel of God according to Acts 20:26-28. Now let's look at the three key components that all true Christians need to be looking for in a church:
  1. Preaching that focuses on the truths of God's Word, and not on the opinions of men. Churches are full of man's opinions, but the only opinion that any preacher or church should be interested in is God's. At Tabernacle Baptist Church we preach the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the whole truth of the Bible with nothing held back. (2 Timothy 2:3,4)
  2. Having compassion on lost souls, and a genuine love for the family of God. All of us have seen division and strife in churches. Perhaps you have seen the cold hearts of some churches toward lost souls. Tabernacle Baptist Church's first priority is to evangelize Killeen and Fort Hood, TX. Through personal evangelism and door to door soul winning we are reaching the lost of our Jerusalem. This is not a gimmick, but humble obedience to the Great Commission of Christ in Matthew 28:19-20. Not only love for the lost, but also love for our brothers and sisters in Christ within the church is paramount. So often we forget to love those who are closest to us, at TBC we put a very high value on loving our church family. (I Pet. 3:8)
  3. Reaching and discipling the next generation of young people to love and serve God. As I have visited churches across our great country I have noticed that our churches are getting older. Every congregation has more and more older people, and fewer children. This unreached mission field of America is very close to the heart of God. Jesus in His ministry placed a high value on children, and not to prevent them from coming to Him. At Tabernacle Baptist Church we strive to reach the next generation in obedience to the command of God. Through in depth Sunday School classes and Children's Ministries we are reaching and teaching our future Christian leaders. (Mark 10:14-15)
Thank you for taking the time to read and contemplate this admonishment from God's Word. Tabernacle Baptist Church was founded 30 years ago on the pillar of God's Word. In those 30 years we have never wavered from it by the grace of God. Won't you prayerfully consider making Tabernacle Baptist Church your launching point for a new chapter in your life. Please come and grow with us, and help us reach this world for the Lord Jesus Christ. We look forward to meeting you soon at one of our services.

Sincerely,
Pastor Robert Sperbeck
